PTSD – Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
The definition states: ‘Post-traumatic stress disorder is an anxiety disorder caused by very stressful, frightening or distressing events.’
It took me a long time to recover from PTSD. The reality was the anxiety of living day in day out whilst wondering when the next bad thing will happen? Irrationally fearing people and becoming paranoid, even of those you love sometimes. Panicking and flinching at the sight of something horribly familiar. Freezing or choosing to flight or fight at a hint of similar danger. Playing things over and over again in your mind. Avoiding anything that reminds you of that moment. Not being able to concentrate or sleep at night, for the fear that bad memories will cloud your mind and seep into your dreams.
