Welcome to my blog! 🙂 I’m Natasha, Founder of Free Your Mind CIC.
Here’s where it all started.
This blog began as a place for me to write about and express my personal journey of Mental Illness and my life experiences. I had Post Traumatic Stress Disorder as a child and depression, anxiety and panic disorder most of my life without knowing exactly what it was until panic attacks started to develop over the last few years.
I was then officially diagnosed by my doctor in 2012, aside from using the usual Google searches to research coping strategies and medication, I found that being able to write out my thoughts and feeling really helped release some of the things I was dealing with. To be able to let it all out somehow eased the bubble of panic and worry going on inside my head as I became a habitual bottler and worrier. Once I began to write my feelings started to spill out and offload, almost like a catharsis and many others started to relate to my posts.
From this I created this website and forum www.freeyourmindcic.com to share it, but to also create a platform for others to share their writing too. I wanted to share this with others and hope that it will help other people like it has helped me. I am not a poet or a writer, in fact I have Dyslexia, Dyspraxia and SLE Lupus, which are things which do affect my written skills, creativity and confidence. I was once told by an old boss that my writing wasn’t good enough, but this is how I express myself best…In words.
Please feel free to share your thoughts and feelings there, you might be surprised to find that there is someone else feeling just like you today. As I write this I have finally found peace in myself, but wanted to continue to share my experiences, I guess you never stop learning and life never stops being your teacher. If you are expecting to read about a perfect person please do not continue on, like most humans I have made a lot mistakes and if anything, I want others to learn from my experiences.. I express my journey in pictures, words and poetry here.
Feel free to get in touch firstname.lastname@example.org it will be kept in the strictest confidence…xxx
